When I arrived at Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori at the beginning of the year, I brought a packet of sunflower seeds that I was gifted from a parent from my previous school. She wished me all the growth and sunshine at my new school….. One of the first outdoor activities I took part in at Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori was planting these seeds with the children. With a little bit of sunshine and water the seedlings were reaching out the soil towards the shining sun. Within the month of February, the children observed the growth right before their very eyes. With this experience, came the interest of planting veggie seeds in our seed trays. Re-planting the seedlings into our veggie garden comes next……….then eating our veggies for lunch is the purest example of Montessori’s work with meaning.

We thank you not only for organising the books from Australia, but for coming all the way to hand deliver the books and to meet the children, with warm hearts. What a blessed morning!
So, have you ever heard from a KFC cashier……”Would you like to donate R2 to feed a hungry child”? This I have come to know, is in fact true. The organisation is called JAM, and they sponsor our daily porridge at school. They came for a surprise visit last week and fitted each and every child with a new pair of TOMS shoes! Thank you JAM J
With this in mind, have you ever heard when buying a pair of TOMS, that “Every pair of shoes you buy, a second pair will go to a rural child in Africa.” The proof is in the pudding, and here are all the puddings…..
