Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori is producing little super stars and the community members are blown away!
Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori is going from strength to strength and the children have all developed and progressed so much, in just 6 short months – it is really mind-boggling! We ended the year with having one-on-one parents meetings at the school and after the progress report chat, the assistant teachers took the parent around to show them the different learning areas and explained what each area did for their child. I always started the meeting by asking the parent what their child was doing at home that is new, since coming to school. ALL the parents said, “my child is so clever” – it was really great and the mama’s really enjoyed learning about Montessori. Happy days…..

We had the honour of having Jennifer Moore (a well-known South African Montessorian) working with us for the past 4 months and other than working with the children, Jennifer was also engaged in the training of the 8 local ladies who are studying Montessori early childhood development. A wonderful relationship has been formed between Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori and Jen and we look forward to her next visit. Thank you for teaching all of us!

Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori has been blessed with donations in kind again….we received 50 toothbrushes, toothpastes and mugs for all the children from our dear friends Leo and Rhi from Cape Town…….we received heaps and heaps of stationary, coloured cardboard and paper from Neil and Michelle Whittal, we received indoor toys from Mr and Mrs Brian Moore and BEST of all………………we received a veggie garden from friends in Holland, Harold and Paulien, who shared their wedding present with Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori and created a garden for us, which will enable us to eat from our own veggie garden 🙂 Massive thanks to all of you, as these are the kind of things that the money does not stretch to buy…Thank you!

Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori has received good news about ex- children who attended our pre-school and went onto mainstream schools in Coffee Bay, Mthatha and East London. They have all done well in their grade 1 year with a number of them receiving certificates for excellence in all learning areas. Below are pictures of 3 ex-Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori children who are styling in the traditional schools, due to their solid foundations.

All the happy, healthy, clever children from Ikhaya Labantwana Montessori have gone on their long holiday break now – this is well deserved after their busy term.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our project this year – we really appreciate your support. Happy holidays everyone- have fun and stay safe. Wishing you all a blessed and merry Christmas and a very happy new year.
See you in 2014!
